Sunriders Unite to Raise US$100,000 for Nepal Disaster Relief
To raise money for the victims of the earthquake that devastated regions of Nepal in April 2015, Sunrider International swiftly organized a relief campaign led by company owners, Drs. Tei-Fu & Oi-Lin Chen. The earthquake, which killed more than 8,000 people and left hundreds of thousands of people homeless, was the worst natural disaster to strike Nepal since 1934.

Soon after the earthquake occurred, Sunrider launched a fundraising campaign, matching amounts from all Sunriders, including employees and its global network of ABOs and IBOs, who donated to the cause through the Red Cross or other relief organizations. The amount eventually totaled US$100,000, thanks to the US$50,000 donated by Sunriders worldwide and the matching contribution from Drs. Chen and Sunrider International.

In appreciation, the American Red Cross presented Sunrider with a plaque thanking the company for its contribution that has “provided shelter, food, emotional support, and relief supplies to families and communities—sending a message of comfort and hope to those in need.”

Sunrider has a proud tradition of responding to disasters by raising money and donating in-kind support, including establishing fundraising campaigns to aid victims of Typhoon Haiyan, Hurricane Sandy, the Japan Earthquake and Tsunami, and the Haiti Earthquake.
