Sunrider Manufacturing Awarded for Being a ‘Good Corporate Citizen’

In July 2009, Sunrider Manufacturing was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County for being “good corporate citizens for the year 2008.” Sunrider was one of 408 companies recognized for being consistent in complying with all the U.S. EPA and Los Angeles County industrial wastewater discharge requirements during the year. In fulfilling the certificate criteria, Sunrider met its limits for wastewater discharge, was free from any notices of violation, maintained its environmental equipment, and fulfilled its permit requirements.
Steve Maguin, chief engineer and general manager of the Sanitation Districts, said, “As far as we're concerned, the 408 industries receiving certificates are our model citizens. We appreciate their effort, particularly in these challenging economic times, because it makes our job of running a huge wastewater collection and treatment system so much easier." Mr. Maguin announced the certificate awardees at the meetings of the Boards of Directors of the Sanitation Districts of Los Angeles County.
This type of conscientious compliance is also consistent with Sunrider’s commitment to protecting the environment and saving water and energy. Sunrider’s manufacturing facilities have many environment-friendly features, including water- and air- purification systems and recycling systems. Sunrider’s facilities also use water-soluble and biodegradable shipping filler materials and food-grade biodegradable lubricants and paints in the running of its machinery equipment.
The idea for the Certificates of Recognition originated with the Sanitation Districts' Industry Advisory Council, an advisory group of 21 representatives from various industrial sectors. The Council and the Sanitation Districts thought that it was important that companies with good compliance records be recognized. The Recognition Program is now in its 13th year.
Sunrider is proud of this recognition and will strive to continue to set the standard for excellence in all areas of product manufacturing.
