Drs. Chen Recognized for Disaster Relief in China

On September 2, 2009, the director of the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office, Li Haifeng, hosted a press conference and reception at her office for Drs. Tei-Fu and Oi-Lin Chen. On this occasion, Director Li received a donation from Drs. Chen of one million Chinese Yuan. This amount is earmarked to benefit the Gansu Province Earthquake Disaster Relief Fund, which is dedicated to rebuilding schools in that region. In recognition of this contribution, Director Li presented a donation certificate and plaque to Drs. Chen.
Director Li also acknowledged Dr. Chen for his long-time support of disaster relief, including his assistance for the devastating earthquake that hit Wenchuan, China on May 12, 2008. Director Li also expressed appreciation for Sunrider’s efforts to expand operations in China and its investments in the economy, which help bolster the market and provide job opportunities. She commended Dr. Chen for helping to bring traditional Chinese culture to the American public by showcasing his collection of priceless Chinese antiques in the Chen Art Gallery, which is located in the Sunrider World Headquarters and open to the public for free.
Drs. Chen thanked Director Li and the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office for their hospitality, dedicated service, and for their achievements in deepening cross-cultural ties. The event concluded with Drs. Chen expressing their sincere commitment to continue their support of charitable causes both in China and abroad.
